The Institute has been established by office of Development Commissioner-(Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles,
Govt. of India and Industries and Commerce Department, UT of J&K. And is registered under Society Registration Act 1860. The affairs of the Institute are managed by an Executive Committee headed by Administrative Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department.
Mission
To develop and promote the Carpet Industry of J&K by continuous research of process/technologies involved in Carpet
Manufacturing with a view to introduce modern methods & techniques.
By providing education and training for developing a technically qualified Human Resource who could take the centuries old carpet industry to new heights of excellence.
To sustain and enlarge its production base to its full potential with consistent quality as per the customer requirement and by undertaking all such programmers which would facilitate better outreach to artisans.
Vision
To have a techno-entrepreneurially developed carpet industry in J&K through research based technical support and entrepreneurial capacity building so as to have export oriented production in line with market demand.
To have empowered and motivated artisans with due social recognition as partners in the development of the industry.
